On this Sunday, 19 February 2023, international day of social justice, following an international call from youth organisations from all over Africa and numerous other decentralised bodies for children’s rights, the Tree Society is organising a combined action of public awareness raising on our island for the future of youth and children in Africa and ecological vigilance with the planting of 80 oak trees on Kouma Hill!
10000 young children in Africa are pushed into child labour every day.
Youth organisations from all over Africa together with 47 Nobel Prize winners in different subjects and the world’s largest foundation for the fight against child labour and slavery Kaylash Children Foundation are calling on citizens from all over the world to take it upon themselves to bring to their communities the awareness of the situation that young people, children and the most vulnerable people on the African continent are currently experiencing and to send them their imprinted support to strengthen their struggle for justice.
At the same time that our world has become $11 trillion richer in the last 7 years
10,000 children are forced or coerced into child labour every day in Africa. And the number is growing rapidly. Dangerous and unhealthy work, uninsured, paid at $1 a day, if they are lucky! And most importantly: instead of school. Youth organizations are asking every well-meaning person in every corner of the world to make their society aware of what is happening to the children and youth of Africa, to raise public awareness on the issue so that citizens can demand that their governments and their coalitions demand that injustice be redressed through annual summits of states.
So, it is a very nice opportunity to do a cultural action on our island, setting up a beautiful painted cloth banner with Patmos and Africa, playing some great African music on speakers, (Ali Farka Toure, Tumani Diabate, Fela Kuti etc), distributing some text to the world in a festive atmosphere, cultivating
understanding and interest in what people in Africa go through and are too often forced to leave their land
and go through against all danger and abuse in our country and in Europe, not for a better future, but for a life with basic basic necessities. One hour in the square, with some of our trees decorated around and then boom! for tree planting in Kouma! What do you say?
By Sunday, the majority of the pits in which our oak trees will be planted will have been dug by volunteers on the hill, leaving only a small number to be dug that day. 11 we will be assembled in the Scala Square and by 12 we will have set off for Kouma!- Ενημέρωση/ευαισθητοποίηση για τα παιδιά των αναπτυσσόμενων χωρών.

Την Κυριακή αυτή, 19 Φεβρουαρίου 2023, διεθνής ημέρα κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης, κατόπιν διεθνούς καλέσματος από οργανισμούς νεότητας από όλη την Αφρική και πολυάριθμων άλλων αποκεντρωμένων φορέων για τα δικαιώματα των παιδιών, η Κοινωνία των Δέντρων διοργανώνει μία συνδυαστική δράση ευαισθητοποίησης της κοινής γνώμης στο νησί μας για το μέλλον των νέων και των παιδιών στην Αφρική και οικολογικής επαγρύπνησης με δεντροφύτευση 80 βελανιδιών στο λόφο του Κουμά!
10000 νέα παιδιά στην Αφρική, σπρώχνονται στην παιδική εργασία κάθε μέρα.
Οργανώσεις Νεότητας από όλη την Αφρική μαζί με 47 κατόχους του βραβείου Νόμπελ σε διαφορετικά αντικείμενα και το μεγαλύτερο ίδρυμα στον κόσμο για την καταπολέμηση της παιδικής εργασίας και δουλείας Kaylash Children Foundation καλούν πολίτες από όλον τον κόσμο να αναλάβουν να μεταφέρουν στην κοινότητά τους, την επίγνωση της κατάστασης που βιώνουν σήμερα οι νέοι, τα παιδιά και οι πιο αδύναμοι άνθρωποι στην Αφρικανική Ήπειρο και να τους στείλουν αποτυπωμένη την υποστήριξή τους για να ενισχύσουν τον αγώνα τους για δικαιοσύνη.
Την ίδια ώρα που ο κόσμος μας έγινε πλουσιότερος κατά 11 τρις δολάρια τα τελευταία 7 χρόνια
10000 παιδιά αναγκάζονται ή εξαναγκάζονται να μπουν στην παιδική εργασία κάθε μέρα στην Αφρική. Και ο αριθμός συνεχώς αυξάνεται με ταχύτητα. Εργασία επικίνδυνη και ανθυγιεινή, ανασφάλιστη, πληρωμένη με 1 δολάριο την ημέρα, αν έχουν καλή τύχη! Και το σημαντικότερο: αντί σχολείου. Οι οργανώσεις νέων ζητούν από κάθε καλότυχο άνθρωπο σε κάθε γωνιά της γης να κάνει γνωστό στην κοινωνία του αυτό που συμβαίνει στα παιδιά και τους νέους της Αφρικής, να αυξήσουν την επίγνωση της κοινής γνώμης πάνω στο ζήτημα, έτσι ώστε οι πολίτες να απαιτήσουν από τις κυβερνήσεις τους και τους συνασπισμούς τους να αποκαταστήσουν την αδικία μέσα από τις ετήσιες συνόδους κορυφής των κρατών.
Είναι λοιπόν, μία πολύ όμορφη ευκαιρία να κάνουμε μία πολιτιστική δράση στο νησί μας, στήνοντας ένα όμορφο ζωγραφισμένο υφασμάτινο πανό με την Πάτμο και την Αφρική, παίζοντας λίγη σπουδαία Αφρικάνικη μουσική σε ηχεία, (Ali Farka Toure, Tumani Diabate, Fela Kuti etc), να μοιράσουμε κάποιο κείμενο στον κόσμο, σε κλίμα γιορτινό, να καλλιεργήσουμε
την κατανόηση και το ενδιαφέρον για αυτά που περνούν οι άνθρωποι στην Αφρική και αναγκάζονται πολύ συχνά να αφήνουν τον τόπο τους
και να περνούν ενάντια σε κάθε κίνδυνο και κακομεταχείριση στη χώρα μας και στην Ευρώπη, όχι για ένα καλύτερο μέλλον, αλλά για μία ζωή με στοιχειώδη βασικά αγαθά. Μία ώρα στην πλατεία, με μερικά δεντράκια μας στολισμένα τριγύρω και μετά βουρ! για δεντροφύτευση στον Κουμά! Τι λέτε;
Μέχρι και την Κυριακή θα έχει ήδη σκαφθεί από εθελοντές στο λόφο, η πλειοψηφία των λάκκων μέσα στις οποίες θα φυτευθούν οι βελανιδιές μας, αφήνοντας μόνο ένα μικρό αριθμό για σκάψιμο εκείνη τη μέρα. 11 θα είμαστε μαζεμένοι στην πλατεία της Σκάλας και 12 θα έχουμε ξεκινήσει για τον Κουμά!
